June was a very difficult month for me. There were many hard things that came up in my life that the Lord had to walk me through. The most difficult was the loss of a youth that I had been working with for nine years, to suicide. It would have been far more difficult if I did not know that he had given his life to the Lord while he was in prison a couple of years ago. We had great talks about what the Lord was showing him, both before and after the day he got on his knees and asked the Lord into his life.
The hardest part for me is the what ifs, and wondering what could have been? After years of working with youth I kind of understand the whys. Life is hard. Even for someone who has been walking with the Lord for over 30 years. Imagine what it must be like for someone dealing with more trauma than anyone should have to go through as a child. Someone just in the Lord trying to figure out how the world even works.
I still have moments when I want the Lord to stop the planet so that I can get off.
One redeeming factor of course is that Our Father used Youth for Christ to save a precious life. That continues every time we go into a facility and talk to a young person that has not heard the Good News of Jesus! I do not know how many lives have been saved over the years. Last night we had nine servants go into Spring Creek to minister to nearly 40 youth. Hearts were softened, questions answered, and seeds were planted and watered. That is what really matters, God gives the growth and saves.
I do not know how many Christians are in Colorado Springs, but when the Lord says the workers are few, I understand. I believe the Lord wants us to be able to reach youth in school environments as well. This will take more servants and additional funding to make it happen.
We are having our largest fund raiser of the year, a golf tournament on August 19th at the Colorado Springs Country Club. We have plenty of room for a lot more sponsors and golfers. If you know anyone who golfs or who has a heart for youth ministry, please send them to the website socoyfc.org . They can go to events/golf and all the information is there.
The doors for ministry would never be open if it were not for the support of the many who financially come alongside those who go in. I am so very grateful for everyone that has ever supported God’s ministry to kids. Because of it June was not nearly as bad for me as it could have been.
All glory to the Lord!!
Have a blessed summer,
Andy
