Hello Friends!
The holidays and end of the year are fast approaching. This is a very busy time of the year for us, and it is an extremely hard time for the young people who are locked up over the holidays.
Every year we bring Christmas to all the facilities we minister in. Spring Creek, Zebulon Pike, Pueblo Youth Center, and Southern Peaks. We purchase sports equipment, board games, cards, hats, gloves, activity books, art supplies, and anything the facilities have a need for. We have 10 individual unit Christmas parties for about 100 kids and one large party for another 45 boys and girls in the treatment facility in Canon City. We serve Christmas cookies, candy canes, and other snacks. We sing carols, read the Christmas story to the kids, and provide bibles for all who want one. It is a blessing to both the youth and staff and my favorite program of the year.
We also have a holiday party for all the volunteers who work so tirelessly to reach the kids for Christ. Counting our volunteer board of directors, we have over 40 servants of the Lord. It is a blessing to be able to gather, break bread, drink eggnog, and enjoy the fellowship. It has a true body of Christ feeling as everyone is from different churches throughout Colorado Springs.
I will be visiting a couple of churches that are a part of our team to talk about all we are doing, which also provides an opportunity for The Lord to prayerfully recruit more servants to work with the youth. It takes the body of Christ to do the Lord’s work.
An amazing dance team will be performing their program in a second facility. They blessed the kids and staff with their performance in the Pueblo facility a few weeks ago. The Lord brings many different people to us to share the love of the Lord with the youth and graciously opens the doors for us to be able to bring these programs into the facilities.
We are currently putting together our end of year match which is critical to our annual budget.
Why have I told you all these things?
It is because we need your help and participation in what the Lord will be doing through the end of the year.
Please pray that we will bring glory to God. That His Love, Grace, and Mercy will shine through all these events and those that don’t know Jesus yet will be drawn to a relationship with God and learn of His great love for them.
Please pray for funding for the Christmas events.
Please pray that those the Lord is calling will hear and obey His voice.
Please pray about being a partner in our end of year matching fund drive, and that we can meet our goal. socoyfc.com
Please pray for the youth who will be confined during the holidays, and the staff caring for them.
We will be praying that you have a blessed Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!
Thank you for being a friend of SOCOYFC.
