The purpose of these newsletters is to keep you informed as to what God is doing though His ministry. I must admit that sometimes I wonder what He is doing. I have really had to learn, as many of us have, to wait on the Lord. Isa 30:18b “For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.”
Waiting does not mean you do nothing. We have been taking this time to make improvements in training, administration, and communications. We know that when God opens the doors of the facilities, we need to be prepared to do things different. We want to be ready, and have his servants equipped to do the very best to be the light of God. We are coordinating with facilities to provide activities for the youth and encouragement to the staff. We are also planning more prayer walks at each location. I have been in contact with other organizations, that work with the same youth, to see how we can complement and support each other. One thing I know for sure, as I listen to the nightly news, is that the number of youths that are in the Juvenile Justice System is not going down. It seems like on a weekly basis I hear of a teen getting picked up for criminal activity. My heart breaks knowing that we are not able to go in and bring them hope and let them know that they are loved. I do know that God has servants on the staffs of the facilities that need to be kept in prayer. God’s ultimate plan is Phil 2:10-11 “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus is Lord to the glory of the Father” The servants within SOCO YFC are waiting to carry out God’s purpose. Please continue to pray for the staff, the youth and their families, and the volunteer servants. As you may be waiting on the Lord for something ask yourself, what is God trying to do in my life. What can I do to carry out his will? Be listening. He has ministry for us to do every day. May the rest of your summer be filled with Joy! Andrew LaValley P.S. We ask if you would prayerfully consider being a monthly donor. Even $30 a month will help us meet our annual budget which allows us to equip our volunteer servants to carry out God’s work. We cannot depend on events in this time, we need individuals called by God to help fill that void.
