As fire dangers loom high,
Security fire fighters take time to teach our at-risk youth what it means to be men who protect us from these fires.
Spring is in the air and the air has been hot and dry. The news seems to always have a story about a fire burning out of control some place. Six young men are learning what it means to be men that protect us from these fires.
Security fire department has been teaming up with SOCOYFC to give six hours of introductory training to young men whom have been serving time at Zep Pike and are getting ready to get back into the community. The training consists of equipment intro, how to fight a brush fire, and how to connect hose to a hydrant and put water on a target. The biggest thing they learn is the character and team work it takes to be a fire fighter or a paramedic.
Several of the young men in this class have relatives that work on fire departments. They realized this is something they could do. They all for at least a couple hours felt like they were a part of community and that is the first step for these young men toward a successful life when they get out.
Thank you! Your prayers and support make these programs possible.
