But Without Faith, It is Impossible To Please Him

​Young people in jail need someone like you to help them process life’s biggest questions…
 
Last month, during a weekly Bible study at one of the local youth facilities, Isaiah kept asking the question,
 
“But how do you know Jesus is real?  I have been at a Voodoo séance with my Auntie and I have seen and heard a doll speak to me, why can’t Jesus do that to prove He is real?”
 
“Was your experience real and do you now believe in Voodoo because a doll talked to you?” I asked.
 
“No, I don’t want that stuff, I want Jesus to be real, but I need proof!” was the reply. 
 
I went on to ask Isaiah if he had any amount of faith; enough to believe that Jesus is who the Bible says He is. A little to my surprise, the answer was “Yes”.  I then asked Isaiah if he was willing to take that little bit of faith and ask God to increase it enough to believe that Jesus is real and powerful enough to change his heart and make it brand new? 
 
“No, I will not pray that prayer because I know God will answer it and I’m not ready!”
 
It is as if the ancient writer of Hebrews had someone like Isaiah in mind when he wrote the following:
 
“But without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”   Hebrews 11:6
 
Isaiah wants a future that doesn’t include spending time in jail and to believe that Jesus is real, but is currently unwilling to put his “small amount of faith in God” to move forward!  Please pray with us for young men and women like Isaiah to open their hearts to the truth of the Christmas Story and the gift of a new life Jesus offers to them!
