This past Sunday I went in the Pueblo Youth Services Center with our wonderful volunteer team from Pueblo. We lead worship, prayer, and testimonies for 16 boys and girls.
As the youth wrote their prayer requests down, I heard the Lord say, “they have unbelief”. He reminded me of the scripture in Mark 9 when the disciples could not drive out the evil spirits from a boy. I felt lead to focus on the father’s response in verses 21-24: Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” We all know kids and adults that may believe testimonies and messages of Jesus (even without understanding). The problem arises when the world, Satan, and the flesh fill us with unbelief. The boy’s father believed that Jesus could heal his son, but his circumstances and the world around him caused his flesh to be overcome with unbelief. The good thing was he recognized this and asked Jesus to help him overcome his unbelief. Our prayers should be more like his. Please join us and pray, for the more than 1000 youth in the judicial system, they would overcome unbelief and they will grow and will walk in belief in our Lord Jesus Christ.
