About JJM
At Southern Colorado Youth For Christ, we engage young people in relational outreach while they are in a variety of youth-serving institutions (detention centers, probation, correctional facilities, group homes, and residential treatment centers). This strategy helps them acquire and develop a way of living taught by Jesus Christ, balancing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of life. These valued relationships are sustained through ongoing involvement as they reenter our community.
Our Vision, Mission & Method of Ministry
With the Great Commission, Jesus commands us to go and reach the lost in their world. Jesus also speaks in Matthew about ministry to “the least of these” and we believe that the youth involved in systems are part of that focus. We know that the Father will equip those He calls to this ministry, and believe that He calls all types of people to this ministry.
"Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:16-20
“For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.” Matthew 25:35-26
OUR VISION:
Our vision is to reach out to teens in a variety of youth serving institutions, giving them an opportunity to make an informed decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ and become a part of the local church.
OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to reach teens in institutions such as detention centers, group homes, correctional facilities, and residential treatment centers. We are committed to long-term relationships that last long after the teen has left the facility. Our focus is balanced ministry that emphasizes the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional aspects of life. Ultimately, presenting them with the person, work, and teachings of Christ and discipling them into the church.
OUR METHOD of MINISTRY:
Our method of ministry is to recruit, train, and place local Christian adults with institutionalized youth, who, as Christ followers share their time, experiences, and faith with the youth placed in their care. Our method gives us strategic tools and balanced programming to pursue young people in Southern Colorado who are experiencing the challenges of incarcerations, abandonment, addictions, and abuse.
