In recent months I’ve been sharing stories with you from some of God’s servants and letting you know about the upcoming events that we need prayer for. I want to end the year with a couple of stories that illustrate how much the Lord is working through this ministry.
About five months ago, a young man named John (not his real name) gave his life to Christ. He had some Christian background from his family and the seed that was planted sprouted! He prayed with one of our volunteers to receive Christ. Ever since he has been very active, meeting weekly with that servant, praying, and reading his bible. A couple of weeks ago when we visited the facility, it was family night, so John was not on the unit. Another young man there, who was a friend of John’s was excited to meet with us. He told the servant that John had been telling him about Jesus and reading the bible to, and with him. He was eager to give his life to Christ and did so that night. In over 20 years in this ministry, I rarely hear of youth sharing their belief in Jesus with other youth. What a blessing to hear about this. Praise God!
We have an after-care program for youth who want a coach/mentor to work one on one with them. The mentor works with them in the facility and when they are discharged they can continue working with them outside in their homes. We got a request from a young lady; we’ll call her Mary. We were able to match her with a servant that just happened to live within walking distance from her home. They meet at Mary’s home on Friday nights, sometimes for several hours to do bible study. Mary is excited to learn about the Lord and her younger siblings often listen to the lesson as well. She has gone to church with her coach and even spent a day doing church clean up. Mary’s walk with Jesus is just beginning. She is rebellious toward her mom who has a live-in boyfriend. However, recently Mary’s mom asked her coach if the whole family could go to church with her. PRAISE the Lord!!!
These are just a couple of examples of the things God does when we are obedient to His call. You are a major part of this work! Your prayers and donations make it possible for those called by the Lord to GO and be obedient. This month you can help make sure that we can continue to reach troubled kids for Christ. We have been blessed with a $20,150 donation match. This means that every dollar that you donate in December is matched. Please go to socoyfc.org if you are able to help. I am excited about what the Lord will be doing in the coming year. I pray you will be a part of His work.
Asking God to bless each of you with a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
